Policy : to ensure safety & Quality of blood and its components procured from a non-remunerated regular blood donor in a will equipped primaries which is free from transfusion transmitted infections and is stored and transported under optimum conditions.
Transfusion is done under supervision of trained personal followed by port transfusion care.
Objective : To provide safe & Quality blood & its components collected from volunteer blood donors at an affordable processing charge to the patients round the clock. Motivate & maintain a permanent will indexed record of blood donors
Blood banking is a process that involves collecting, testing and strong blood for transfusion or medical treatments. It plays Crucial role in healthcare, providing a safe and ready supply of blood for surgeries, emergencies and various medical conditions, blood banks clarify and store different blood types, ensuring compatibility for transfusions which includes.
1. ABO & Rh typing
2. Screening and identification of unexpected antibodies.
3. Screening tests for transfusion transmitted infections Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, Syphilis and malaria.
4. Separation of whole blood into different components. In KHRC blood bank, each unit of blood is separated into different components which as packed red cells, platelets & fresh frozen plazma (FFP)/ Cryoprecipitate. This practice allows administration of specific replacement therapy & also avoids transfusion of unnecessary elements that are not required by the patients

FAQs
The age of the donor must be above 18 years and below 60 years of age. He/she must have a haemoglobin count that is not less than 12.5g/dl. The Weigh should not less than 48kgs. One should have a normal body temperature at the time of donation.
The minimum time advised between two donations is 3 months. This gap helps blood regain the normal haemoglobin count.
You should always drink lots of water before the donation. Also, keep in mind that you should take a well-balanced meal prior to and after donating blood. This will keep you healthy and fit.
